In their earnest attempts to appease the deities\, the residents of Kyoto offered a child messenger as a solemn offering. \nIn the present day\, a young boy is carefully selected to grace an opulent parade float\, among many others\, where he remains suspended without his feet touching the ground for four days leading up to the culmination of the first procession on July 17th. The second grand parade takes place on July 24th\, but the entire month is permeated with exuberance\, all-night celebrations\, and a delectable array of street food. \nUnquestionably\, Gion Matsuri attracts an immense influx of visitors to Kyoto\, making it one of the busiest periods to explore the city.
